DOGE didn’t catch him.
The CIA’s own internal watchdog did the kind of independent oversight office Trump has spent the past year systematically destroying.
His name is David Rush.
As reported by the Washington Post and confirmed by NBC News, NPR, and CBS News this week,
Rush was arrested last week after the CIA’s own internal investigation flagged that he had requested and received tens of millions of dollars in gold bars and foreign currency between November 2025 and March 2026, all logged as “work-related expenses.”
The FBI knocked on his door on May 18th.
The gold was there.
All of it.
In his house.
In Virginia.
That is not even the best part.
Rush also allegedly spent nearly two decades lying about his entire background to climb the federal pay scale.
He told his employers he was a Navy test pilot.
Military records show he was an IT technician.
He claimed degrees from Clemson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Federal investigators say he had neither.
He used the fake credentials to fraudulently inflate his salary in what the FBI affidavit describes as a pattern of requests for
“work-related expenses” that no one could account for.
The CIA’s internal investigation caught him anyway.
Not DOGE.
Not Kash Patel.
Not a single one of Trump’s accountability crusaders who have spent 16 months investigating journalists, universities, and law firms.
The few watchdogs Trump didn’t fire actually did their jobs
